How are the diapers washed?
-We wash Baby's Choice diapers in 600# industrial washers in 170 degree water - we use hospital linen formulas specially designed for baby diapers - our washing supplies are the simplest we can use and include no phosphates, brighteners , or perfumes. The diapers are pH balanced to be compatible with normal skin. We do use a tiny amount of bleach (its the most effective way to sanitize) but kill it with an anti-chlor that keeps any residual bleach out of the diapers or the waste water. All of our waste water enters the sanitary sewer system and is monitored and approved by the sewer authority.

What about environmental concerns?
-We think Baby's Choice Cotton Diaper Service is better for the environment than single use disposable diapers and even cotton diapers washed at home. Unlike disposables that are thrown into the garbage or flushed into the sewage system after one use Baby's Choice diapers are reused over 100 times then sold as rags and used until they literally turn to dust. Diapers that are washed at home require far more water and detergent per pound than professionally laundered diapers . We use small vans that get good gas mileage and deliver in the most efficient way that we can. The plastic bags we deliver the diapers in do double duty as soiled diaper bags. We are switching to diapers made with unbleached cotton over the coming months.
